Rusko "Woo Boost" (Genie Version)

Check out this demented take on Rusko's "Woo Boost" (out now on Mad Decent) courtesy of Genie (aka Erik Devereux).

Enchufada Presents: Roulet

Roulet is the latest signing to Buraka Som Sistema's label Enchufada. They have just unleashed this insane video for Kitamanda, which is due out on April 13th and will feature remixes from Girl Unit, Mr. Gasparov and Buraka's own J-Wow.

Got a nice little goodie in the mailbox this morning:

"2010 sees the Aston Shuffle boys continue their domination with the release of dance floor delight I Wanna See You - a trademark slice of Aston magic featuring remixes from local disco don DCUP and man of the moment Harvard Bass. As if that wasn't enough on their plates, the boys are also helming new Ministry compilation concept Destroy alongside co-conspirators and friends The Bloody Beetroots, due for release this April and touring to a local nightspot near you."

"Third in Nightshifters’ series of free EPs comes Rx’s wild and bumpy “Bumble” and a suite of varied remixes sure to make you tweak as much as twerk. Hailing from Philly and part of the global bass family known as Subdivision, Rx’s “Bumble” is somewhere between nu-step and chip-tune with a touch of rumble in the trunk."

New Noize

Les Petits Pilous' Bielle EP is out now on Boys Noize Records. The release is a bit of  a change in direction for LPP, who are notorious for making huge, frantic techno-inspired bangers. The Bielle EP is a bit more contained, a bit more diverse and, as a result, bit more effective. Goog, LPP's take on disco-house, is perfect example...

Buy it on Beatport!

Les Petits Pilous - Goog

Also be sure to check out the brand new Les Petits Pilous mixtape for Born To Film. The mix features a few tracks from the Miami Noize compilation, the Bielle EP and more:

The Untold track gets my pick (and incidentally is the least hilarious). Lookout!

If you haven't had a chance to check out Toronto's Azari & III, now would be a good time. They have just released a deceivingly effective video for their forthcoming single, Manhooker. If you dig dark, Chicago-inspired vocal house a la Hercules and Love Affair, you're in for a treat.

Diplo Pt. 2: The M.I.A. Connection

It's pretty much impossible to mention anything about Diplo without touching on the work he's done with Sri Lankan-born, London-bred popstress M.I.A.

The story goes... "After hearing one of Diplo's songs in 2004, M.I.A. approached Diplo when he was DJing one night at the Fabric Club in London. Regarding their first meeting, M.I.A. said "It had that same homelessness about it. It didn't have a particular genre, which is what people always say to me: Your song doesn't fit anywhere. So I went on a mad mission to find other people like that, because then we could make a home."[5] Diplo adds, "Besides me being a white dude from Florida and her being a Sri Lankan girl in England, everything else was the same: [We were both] film graduates, [listened to] all the same music when we were kids, were going in the same direction right now in music, it was amazing."[6] Coincidentally, Diplo was playing her single "Galang" as she entered the club, which he got from a worker at i-D magazine.[6] The two became romantically involved for some time and collaborated on a mixtape, Piracy Funds Terrorism Vol. 1. They have collaborated on songs since the release, and he toured as a DJ on her 2005 Arular Tour."

Kitsuné Maison 9 Announced

The ever popular (but questionably relevant) Kitsuné marks its 9th installment in the long-running dance compilation series. “Kitsuné Maison 9” will be released April 26, 2010 on Kitsuné. Pick it up on iTunes, Amazon, Beatport, eMusic, and other fine digital outlets.

Diplo: The Early Years w/ HOLLERTRONIX

In honor of the Youngblood Sundays relaunch featuring Diplo, we've decided to do a career retrospective on the venerated DJ/Producer that has influenced the new crop of DJs (including your very own Expendable Youth!) and helped shape much of the current pop culture landscape.

If you weren't a hipster in the early aughts, you probably missed out on Diplo's early career output. Back in '03-'05, wayyy before Mad Decent & Major Lazer, Diplo was best known as being 1/2 of the Philly-based music collective, Hollertronix, with DJ Lowbudget (now Low-Bee).
